Members who are Desperately Seeking Susan will be delighted to hear that our long-time member, Susan Lodor is happier and more contented than she has been for some time.
Susan joined Outsiders in 1981 to make friends. She wanted to belong to a club for people who had difficulties because of their shyness, and had a good feeling about Outsiders. She married a club member in 1987 and, although the marriage ended after seven years, Susan was determined to get on with life. Another setback on the relationship front led her to seek counselling at the Maudsley Hospitalin South London.
As a result of her sessions with a psychologist who works with people with Aspergers Syndrome and autism, Susan has been learning to change the way she views relationships and improve her social skills. These new skills she uses at Outsiders events and meetings organised by the National Autistic Society and Danda. Susan particularly enjoys Outsiders parties, likes wearing pretty clothes, and was made to look totally gorgeous in a make-over at the Outsiders 25th Anniversary celebrations in 2004.
Susan has more confidence and is happy being single. Even so, she is planning to attend cookery classes so that when her Brad Pitt, her Adonis comes along, she will be able to tempt him with her sweet pickled pears!
